What to look for
The soft, inviting appearance of Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees is essential to its horror. Notice the routines, shops and neighborly encounters before looking at the violence. Horvath makes comfort and menace occupy the same space, so the town remains recognizably cozy even when you know what is happening inside it.
