Why these books belong together.
Our recommendations are organized into shelves. Each shelf makes a specific connection through story, visual style, tone, or emotional register. A book can fit one part of your taste without resembling everything about your starting book.
Book searches and genre shelves
Starting from a book uses stored connections and shelf criteria. Genre pages use curated selections with a short reason for each placement. Those selections rotate; rotation changes what you encounter first, not the criteria for belonging on a shelf. We avoid repeating a book across the same page.
Your reading history
When you sign in, finished books marked Loved it or Liked it can become starting points for your homepage. Finishing a book without a reaction does not count as liking it. Not for me never becomes a positive signal, and does not automatically exclude neighboring books. The tracker filter can hide saved, current, and finished books while you browse; switch it off to revisit them.
Where the information comes from
We use publisher information, creator credits, reviews, and catalog sources to identify books and build connections. AI-assisted research and drafting help develop the catalog; the quality and depth of evidence vary. An engine recommendation is not a claim that Josh has personally reviewed the book.
Books outside the core catalog may be matched through their descriptions. That can establish a story connection; it does not establish how the art looks. We keep book summaries separate from the reasons for recommending them.
Series and editions
Some entries represent a complete work; others represent a series or creator’s run. Cover edition labels describe the pictured edition when known. They are not a promise that every volume has identical qualities. Covers and book details are stored with the site so an outside lookup cannot silently change them during your visit.
Limits and corrections
These are suggestions, not objective similarity scores. Genre coverage is uneven and some summaries or covers are still being checked. If a connection doesn’t make sense, use Share feedback or contact us.
