What to look for
In Harrow County, look at how vulnerable the faces remain even when the surrounding world becomes grotesque. Crook’s painted textures give the woods and their inhabitants a shared physical presence. The warmth of the artwork lets fear coexist with sympathy, making the question of who counts as a monster much less straightforward.
