Mystery, your way.
Some mysteries invite you to solve the case; others make you question the person doing the solving. Comics add another layer: a repeated image or a detail at the edge of a panel can become evidence. Here, the shelves distinguish fair-minded deduction, widening conspiracies, and clues that lead outside ordinary reality.

Decide what you want from the answer
A puzzle you can work on
Choose deduction when comparing explanations is part of the pleasure. Pay attention to what a character knows, what the reader knows, and whether those two things are drifting apart.
The case gets larger
Conspiracy and systems stories use an investigation to expose institutions, histories, or networks. The culprit may matter less than the machinery that lets the crime happen.
When the impossible enters
Uncanny mysteries keep the investigative pull while loosening the rules of reality. If you want every strange event reduced to a practical explanation, read the individual recommendation reason before choosing.
