What to look for
Look at the inviting neighborhood colors in Ice Cream Man before looking for a threat. Cool blue streets and a peach-colored sky make the setting familiar enough to belong to someone. O’Halloran gives the horror an ordinary world to enter. Reading the palette separately from the linework helps reveal how much that sense of familiarity depends on color.
