What to look for
In Welcome to Lovecraft, each child meets the house from a different emotional position. Hill turns discovery into more than a sequence of magical surprises: curiosity, grief and guilt affect what a new door might mean. Watch Bode’s willingness to listen. The quality that makes his exploration joyful also makes him vulnerable to someone who understands the house better than he does.
