A closer look · Our reading of the work
What to look for
Jock makes the forest in Wytches difficult to read at a glance. Narrow views, crowded branches and a face emerging from bark force your eye to work out where a person ends and the surroundings begin. Compare that pressure with the pages of physical comfort between Charlie and Sailor. The changes in distance matter as much as the creatures themselves.
