A closer look · Our reading of the work
What to look for
Gideon Falls makes the page itself an unstable place. Follow the balloons and captions through one of its more complicated layouts, noticing how words provide a sequence inside fractured space. The lettering has to keep dialogue readable without flattening the disorientation. It is a useful book for seeing how a clear reading order can coexist with uncertainty about what you are seeing.
